I was always interested in doing things by hand from a young age, and thought I would be an art teacher when I “grew up.”
My grandmother taught me to crochet when I was 7 years old, and I helped her with weaving rugs on a huge loom in her basement. Along the way I did a lot of hand sewing, weaving, embroidery, quilting, basket making, lace making, and pretty much any handcraft that I could discover.
I did some copper enameling in school along with other art projects. I had a catering company for over 20 years, specializing in wedding cakes and desserts, while at the same time I was also a personal trainer and had a yoga studio.
Fast forward many years, moving from the Midwest to Hawaii. While walking along the beach looking for shells, instead we found a piece of smooth tumbled blue glass. Simply said, that’s where Seaglass Monkey jewelry was born! I just thought, “hmmm, why not try and make jewelry? I’ve done just about everything else.” So what started as a thought has turned into somewhat of a passion.
Oh, the name??? Well, Seaglass certainly made sense, and I may or may not have a pet monkey. That’s for you to decide.
I am constantly trying to think of new ideas and designs that people will like.
